I am studying here. Dental Hygiene. Demanding program but excellent. The school overall is great if you know your plans in life.
The security staff and professors are really super good . I am a Medical Administrative Assistant Certification class student here at Hostos. I find my professor and staff members super good and helpful.
I give this college 5 stars. Not only because it’s close to home for me but I also attended it when I was taking classes to obtain my GED and the classes were flexible, I was able to take my daughter with me one day when she didn’t have class and the professor did not have a problem with it. I am now attending to earn my certification for culinary arts and it’s wonderful. I love Hostos.
started in January an i love it so ..it looks so beautiful in side everyone is so friendly an staffs are so helpfull
I thought that by getting in all of the required documents, applying before the priority deadline, and making several trips to the school over the span of six months to make sure that I would be good to go for the Spring semester of 2019 was enough, but apparently it wasn't. Every department is completely flawed. I've received the wrong information from admissions about what tests I needed to take prior to enrollment and have submitted e-mails that did not get a response. The financial aid office does not answer their phone or call back in response to voicemail messages. The academic coach that I was assigned to never called me to schedule an appointment even though she sent me an e-mail asking for my phone number so that she would contact me. I was notified of the day and time of the orientation that they wanted me to attend with only a 24 hour notice. The academic advisor who assisted me once advised me to enroll in classes that were not in alignment with my desired degree track at all. This administration is horribly unorganized. Truthfully, it is full of a bunch of lazy individuals who think that they have made it big because they have a sit down office job. I am disgusted with my overall experience with Hostos Community College and I plan to submit a formal complaint and pursue my education elsewhere.
they never answer the phone!! I took an e-permit from queens college to attend this school in the summer, but no one is answering the phone to help me with the questions i have. Now my only option is to take the train over there; and that is so much time consuming. They could've saved me a lot of time by answering the phone!! I've been calling for more that 4 days now and its still the same outcome. very unprofessional. However, i hope i enjoy my summer session if am accepted. pray for me because it's very likely that am going to take my summer classes from there and it's too late to make changes.
I graduated from that College with an excellent average but I admit that the ceremony was a failure 2020,they did not give the recognition for the efforts made, only for some students, which puzzles me. I have to give it a star because I really felt disappointed in this College until the end.
It is literally harder to fail a class then it is to pass. I was a single mother taking 12-16 credits at a time I graduated with honors and second highest GPA in my major with not much effort. If you do all your work on time and take a few hours to study you will be fine. There are plenty of tutors to help you but many people who complain about how hard this school is or failing don't take advantage of what is available. Use ratemyprofessor and register ahead of time. Every professor I had cared a lot about their students. Keep an open line of communication from the beginning with them if you think you aren't doing so well and they will guide you. Going to the Financial aid office is like going to the dmv but that's at every school you go to... Go to learn and you will pass think college is anything like highschool and you'll end up repeating the class.
